Challenge Overview

You’re working on an app called DesignFeed, which creates a custom feed of design inspiration for users. Your challenge is to observe a recorded user test and make improvements to the onboarding process based on the user’s feedback.

Device & Platform

Your submission should be designed as a Native iPhone App, using the screens and templates provided.

Usability Test

BiteSize UX provided me with a recording of a usability testing session. I went ahead & watched the session, took notes & made some observations on user interaction with the application.

Observations & Pain Points

Here are some quotes from the user to suggest pain points:

  • "It works! I guess I need to select 5."

  • "Why can't I move forward."

  • "I was wondering if I can change the topics that I selected after I moved forward."

  • "I change my mind every once in awhile in what I am interested in; I would like to be able to switch it up & see some different things."

I made the following observations of pain points:

  • The user was confused about how many topics she needed to select before proceeding to the feeds.

  • The user was confused, she was trying to proceed further by clicking on the next button, but was not able to continue to the next phase.

  • The user wanted to choose/select photography, and while picking photography, the other option also got elected.

  • The user also wondered if she could change or update topics if she changes her mind.

Improvements

I iterated on the designs by making sure all pain points have been addressed.
